Tour de Orange Juice (“we”, “us”, the “app”) is a small, independently-run project. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how it’s handled. If anything here is unclear, reach out and we’ll explain it properly — no legalese hiding tricks.
The short version
We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across the web. We collect the minimum needed to make the app work: an account so your maps sync across devices, and the media/location data you choose to add to a map so it can be displayed.
What we collect
Account data. You can continue as a guest and use locally stored maps without an account or connection. When network features are available, the app creates an anonymous backend credential so collaboration and media uploads can work; it has no email or password. If you create an account, we collect the email address or OAuth identity (e.g. Google) you sign up with.
Map content you create. Photos, videos, GPX tracks, and captions you add to a map, including any location and timestamp data embedded in that media (e.g. GPS EXIF data from photos). This is the whole point of the app — it geolocates your media and shows it on a map.
Published maps. If you publish a map to a public link, the media and map data are uploaded to our CDN so anyone with the link can view it. Unpublished maps stay private to you and the people you’ve shared editing access with.
Basic technical data. Standard things like device type and error logs, used only to keep the app working and to fix bugs. We don’t run analytics or ad-tracking scripts.
How your data is stored
The app is “local-first”: your maps are stored on your own device first (in your browser or on your phone), and synced to our servers only so you can access them from other devices or collaborate with people you invite. Deleting a map removes it from your devices and our servers.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to run the app:
- Supabase — authentication and the small amount of account/map metadata needed to sync and publish
- Bunny CDN — hosting for media and map data you publish to a public link
We don’t sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. We don’t have any.
Your choices
- Export — you can export your map data (photos, GPX, etc.) at any time.
- Delete — deleting a map or your account removes the associated data from our servers.
- Anonymous use — you can use the app without ever providing an email address; publishing a map is the only feature that requires a real account.
Children’s privacy
The app isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them.
